I got to the resort, got my luggage and checked into the hotel. Then I went to check in to the Biggest Loser program at a separate registration desk. After filling out paperwork, I went for my first weigh in. Much to my disappointment, it wasn't one of those big scales like they have on the show with all the lights and the fancy music. And Alison Sweeney wasn't there either! lol It was one of the In Body scales like they have at my regular gym (Lifetime Fitness) where you hang onto the handles and it measures how your fat is distributed throughout your body. Since I've had it done before, I wasn't too shocked at the percentages. It just gives me a way to numerically evaluate my success. The formal evaluation or how to read the evaluation will happen tomorrow morning, if I'm reading the schedule correctly.
I went up to my room - top floor baby! The halls are very windy, angles everywhere. It also makes my room feel more private. I have a nice view of the lobby and "The Cave". The Cave is the bar, which I will not be visiting during my stay. Well I might visit cause it looks cool, but I won't be purchasing anything. I'll take a picture tomorrow. Here are some pics of my room.
Dinner was at 5:15 at "Shiraz West". That's the restaurant. Nothing special about the restaurant. Dinner was good! Chicken Tikka Marsala, Broccoli, Salad and a chocolate dessert. I took pics. It was all yummy. The chicken was really spicy, but I ate every bite. It was good and the spice made me drink more water so I guess that's good. The salad was a salad bar and I could add whatever I wanted to it. There were pickles on the salad bar - yum. The chocolate dessert was so good. it was like a mousse made with greek yogurt and some kind of chocolate.
Before dinner I struck up a conversation with a couple of guests about where to buy clothing in the area. Catherine's, Torrid were my go-to picks. It's going to take awhile before I know everyone's names. I know one of the guests I spoke with was Michelle.
At dinner our group was all in one really long table. There are between 15 - 20 of us this week. This includes new and returning / stayover guests. There is one guest Patrick who is finishing his final week, of 11 total weeks. He's lost over 80 pounds! Sarah is finishing her 8th week this week. Both of them are going home after this week. There are quite a few of us who have never been at a Biggest Loser Resort (BLR) before.
After dinner we went to the Lecture room for our orientation. Everyone attended the orientation. They went over some basics about the location, the schedule, and tips about how to have a successful week. We did introductions and fun facts. introductions also included advice from people who had attended a resort week before, even if it wasn't at the Chicago location.
We did a tour. I had already gone on a tour - when I attended the grand opening in September. But I went again anyway. I'll take more pics another day. Here's a couple from Studio 1. the pics don't do it justice. It's a large room with ellipticals, spin bikes, treadmills, jacob's ladders. Studio 2 is an open room with more floor space, those large yoga balls, kettle bells, sand bags, step things, punching bags.
The pool looks nice. Not a fantastic one for swimming laps, but I should be able to find room in some way. And fantastic for our pool classes.
So this week, since it's my first week will be a lot of educational sessions. I'm glad I remembered my heart rate monitor watch and strap.
Here's my schedule for Monday
