The Biggest Loser Chicago - Day 4 - Wednesday

Wednesday is known as "Weepy Wednesday" and also as a Fun day. So I had a lot of expectations going into this day.

6:15   Body Rejuvenation
A leisurely walk thru a neighborhood, by a soccer field, around a lake and back. This was the perfect day to go on a walk because there was a lunar eclipse. Jerry & Estella from Season 7 joined us. this was an optional activity. I asked Jerry the navigation because I walk slowly and he said he'd stick with me. It was fun having a walking buddy!

7:15   Breakfast / Updates
I had the breakfast smoothie - chocolate, pb2 (peanut butter substitute), and strawberries. It was good, but not as filling as the previous breakfasts. I'm switching back!

8:00   Fun in the Sun
Despite many rumors, this was in fact NOT kickball day.  We went to our favorite place in the whole world - the Tennis Courts!  Jerry & Estella broke us into 4 teams. I got to play doubles tennis and chase balls around a lot.  We got a couple of volleys going, so that was fun.  Then we went to the volleyball court, while another team came to tennis.  Volleyball was also fun. Whenever we hit the ball into the grass it came back wet, and when it went to one side we'd all chant for it to go into the water "Water, Water, water". It never did.  My team won - not sure how, but I'll take it.  I served the volleyball in total 5 times plus 3 practice hits. it went over the net 5 times, not necessarily on my non-practice hits.

After volleyball, we met back at the tennis courts for Grab Bag. we split into two large teams and started going thru our bag. For every slip of paper there was a destination and an exercise.  We had to walk or run to the destination and do the exercise and the whole team had to finish before we could pick the next paper slip. I got behind a lot, but they were very patient and they all kept moving while they waited.

10:15  Emotional Eating *
A lecture - this was very good. Alex taught this. We had to do writing exercises and think about what type of emotional eating we do and what our triggers are. pretty much everyone got weepy during this one, me included.

11:30  Lunch
The most delicious meal ever. I know I say that all week long but yum! Salad was normal. The soup was tomato avocado soup. It was so good.  The wrap was an asian chicken wrap. I loved mine.

12:30  Team Building
This was not team building in the traditional sense. I have no idea why it was called that.  It was more of a companion class with the Goal Setting from yesterday. More writing and thinking.

1:45   Smackdown
AWESOME CLASS.  We split into 2 teams. My group went to boxing first. We got to wear the big boxing gloves and punch on a big boxing bag repeatedly.  jabs, punches, hooks in different combinations. Speed drills. My group then went to the other studio (cardio) where we got on a cardio machine and did a Tabata with Lindsey. We increased speed to a hard level for 20 seconds, then brought down to a managable level for 10 seconds, then back up for 20, back down for 10, etc.  Then we brought our speed down and amped up the resistance in a similar fashion. We did Speed and Resistance twice. Then we switched back to boxing.  This time we put the bags on the floor and wailed on them, alternating with stepping/kicking on the bag.  One by one we each went and sparred? with Andra. Cross hits, then punch and hook combos. Then we did cross hits alternating with squats.  And then back to the cardio room. This time we did a Mountain.

2:45   52 Card Pickup
Bad but not as treacherous as I thought.  We try to get as many cards as we can. We have to pick up one card at a time and do what's required on those cards according to the suit or face. I got 3 cards. I did 2 min on the bike, 30 tricep extensions, and 30 rope slams (ow!). I wanted to do rowers, but I didn't get that card.

3:30   Meditation
I had high hopes for this class. I thought it would be relaxing. It was, and I think I fell asleep, but once I woke back up I got really cold to the point of shivering. Probably because it was right after 1.5 hr of exercising. Luckily I was not the only one feeling this way.

4:30   Intuitive Eating *
It's exactly what it sounds like.  We discussed ways our body tells us signals about eating. More writing and thinking. I like the "Day in the Life - bad" and "Day in the Life - good" so we see the difference. We did that with a few of our classes today and it really put it into perspective.

6:00   Dinner
Dinner was good.  Small salad. A turkey meatloaf which was delicious. The veggies were awesome - zucchini, squash and brussel sprouts. the brussel sprouts were almost sweet and cooked perfectly. Dessert was yummy - that chocolate mousse again but on top of some sort of granola. I could have done without that granola stuff. The highlight of dinner beyond the food was the drink of choice.  So many of the guests are looking for alternatives to what they usually drink.  Michelle, one of the guests, has visited before and made a drink using a coffee substitute called Pero. It's with Pero, Cinnamon, 2 stevia in the raw packets and almond milk.  I don't like coffee or tea and I like this drink.   A bunch of us hung out at dinner longer than previous days so that was nice.

This was a fun day and a weepy day. I was more weepy yesterday at the outdoor activity - It's just overwhelming more than anything.
