TUESDAY Schedule:
I had some trouble waking up this morning. I made the mistake of getting back into bed. Luckily I didn't fall asleep, and I got out of bed again a few minutes later to get ready for the day.
6 am - Yoga Flow
The last time I tried yoga I must have been in an advanced class because it was hot, dark and I could barely do any of the moves. This yoga class was very different. Alex gave us modifications if we couldn't do certain poses. Most of it was simple movements that I could understand. My favorite pose was "monkey" where you put your hands on your shins. The name is funny. My favorite section of the class was when she turned down the lights and we got to lay on our backs flat and just relax. And I didn't fall asleep!
7:15 - Breakfast / Updates
Melon instead of a berry cup. The melon was fresh and sweet so I enjoyed it. I had the ezekial toast, peanut butter and half a banana. I'm ordering the smoothie for tomorrow, to change it up. It's Michelle's birthday today. She's one of the returning/stayover guests. We all sang to her at breakfast.
8 am - Outdoor Activity
we went to a complex that had a football field and a baseball field. It was really far away compared to where we traveled yesterday. Once we got there, we warmed up and split into 3 groups. My group, The 2s, went to the parking lot first. There were several stations that we rotated between. I liked the ladder where you hopscotch or step in/step out on the ground. And the stepups were fun - you put one foot on a curb, and take it down, then do it with the other foot, then repeat as fast as you can. when Andra (not Andrea, Andra) called Time, each group rotated to the next station. We went to the football field. Again there were stations - kettlebell swings, throwing a plush medicine ball and doing a burpee off it, suicide runs to 10 yd, and back, 20yd and back, 30 yd and back 40 yd and back, and a couple more. My favorite was the grapevine walk to the 10 yd line and bicycle step back - cause I like the grapevine! After our group had done each station Andra called Time and we went to the bleachers. While one of our team members went up and down the bleachers 5 times, we did 10 of 3 different exercises. Alex changed the exercises each time a new team member did the bleachers. We ran out of time so i didn't do the bleachers.
10:15 - Facts of Weight Loss
This was a lecture that talked about energy, sleep and nutrition.
11:30 - Lunch
I had a salad, white bean soup and the main course (turkey salisbury steak, mashed cauliflower and portabello mushrooms). The soup was not super bean-y so I was OK eating it. it tasted good. The salisbury steak was good. It was more like a meatloaf, but I liked it. The cauliflower could have used gravy lol, or some more flavor. I added a little bit of tabasco which helped it. The mushrooms were delicious. They were cut long-way. Jerry & Estella from Season 7 joined us for lunch!
12:30 - The Journey
Jerry & Estella talked about their journey of losing weight, being on the show and dealing with weight loss while at home. Jerry was on the ranch for 2 weeks, Estella for 1. Jerry won the At Home prize for highest percentage weight loss. So most of their workouts were done outside the ranch. It was fun to hear their experience.
1:45pm - DBP
DBP = dumb bell power.
It was a beautiful day so we went outside with a bunch of dumbbells to the tennis courts. I paired up with Fanny. She's a local college student who did the in-town program and came once a week for seven weeks. Our speed on the exercises was similar to each other so I felt like it was a good match up. This was close to what we did yesterday with AIM where one person did one exercise while the other person did another and then we swapped. One of each set was always involving the dumbbells - squat chest press, tricep kickbacks, lunges with raising them in front with straight arms. The other person did skaters, running in place, or my least favorite pulsing squats. yuck! There were maybe 10 sets that we went thru
3:15pm - Cardio Pool
YAY A POOL CLASS!!!!! This was awesome. while people were arriving, I swam the width of the pool and back because I brought my goggles with me today. The class was in the deep end. I'm not sure the exact name of it, but I think Sue said the first part was called Sinko and the second was Pyramid. Sinko was basically 2 sets of fast sprints, followed by traveling movements, then 4 sets of fast sprints, followed by traveling, etc. This was fun because we not only got to do the quick in-water exercises but also got to tread water to keep our heads above water. Sue was a maniac when we were doing the exercises. She kept tempo with her voice and made it almost sing-songy. Pyramid I still don't get, but we did mountain climbers, some weird leg combination on the wall and flutter kicks a lot.
4:45pm - Goal Setting
Sue taught this one as well. It was awesome! It basically was SMART goals, but she focused on short-term goals and we walked thru and talked thru what questions we needed to ask about the goals. My goals are simple, but she explained the process very well.
6:00pm - Dinner
Dinner was interesting. 2 people got steaks (grass fed beef) that were not cooked properly. The rest of ours were fine. I got a good one with green beans. I'm not sure how the dessert parfait was made, but it was yummy!!!
7:00pm - Relax & Recover (Hot Tub)
I was the only one there. It was an optional activity and at dinner a lot of people talked about going other places or just crashing. I stayed for a few minutes and then got changed.
I went to the fire pit near the conference rooms. It was quite a walk! I stayed for a few, played online on my phone and then came back to my room.
Time is going by way too fast. I'm enjoying every minute of this and I can't believe that tomorrow is already Wednesday.
